I had a plug blow out on me last week. It required an insert, new plug and coil. It was done at a shop and all was fine. I decided to change out all the other plugs since one went. I put in 7 new SP-493 from the dealer and all was good. Two days ago I started getting hesittation and misfiring. The SES light comes on at times. I try to read it and nothing comes up. I took out all the plugs and they all have the little tip of the central electrode burnt off. The plug the shop put in is an Autolite AP104. I also broke off one of the little 7mm bolts that hold the coil pack on one plug. However, as long as nothing is leaking past the plug, I don't think that would cause a misfire. Any ideas to the issue would be greatly appriciated.

So, just to clarify, after the shop repaired the blown out plug it was running ok? Then, you changed the other 7 plugs and now it is running poorly? Did everything get plugged back in correctly? All the coils and injectors, and any other things that were removed to access the plugs. Fords are aweful for having misfires with no stored codes. If you can access Mode 6 data on your scanner you can see the misfires and see which cylinder it is happening on.

It ran fine for almost 2 days then started to misfire. I pulled out plug by plug and found the smaller part of the central tips burned off. I'm thinking that I may perhaps have damaged a coil on removal. I'm going to change them, and if no fix, it looks like I'll have to get it read live to check whats going on.

I found the problem. I kept trying to read the code but did not get any codes. I decided to try it while I was on the highway and I got P0304. I pulled out the plug from cylinder 4, and i could hear a rattle inside the plug. I'm guessing the plug could have been defective from factory and once current went across the plug, it damaged the elctrode.
