So i'm sitting in the driveway, listening to some music, waiting for someone to come out, when the X dies. And will not start back up. It wont jumpstart either, it turns over, but wont start. It cant be a bad battery, when the battery is out of the X and on the charger, it charges to 100% with no problems. I have a spare battery that does the same, however as soon as i put either battery in there, it drops to 2% and 6Volts. i do have a big sound system, however it is all unplugged to try and get this thing started. I dont believe there is any extra draws on the battery, i have interior LED's on a switch but the switch is off, and the X is a 94 XL, and has no power(window or Locks). I dont know what it could be anymore but i really need to get this thing on the road. Thanks for any help!

Does it crank slow like a dead battery or fast like something else is the prob?

clicks very fast.
and no, i havent checked the alternator.
off i go right now. any other suggestions?

Does it crank fast? Not click fast.

If it cranks fast I would look into spark or fuel delivery as the problem.

yes it cranks fast as well.
i had to jump it last night, surprisingly it worked, ran for 40 minutes, parked it, now its back to the same thing. wont start, battery is dead.

Take the battery in and have it tested. Just because it charges to 100% doesn't mean its charging all the way.

Couple ideas

My brother and I tackled his battery problem this weekend. We had to replace the battery, the ground cable and the terminal for the end of the positive. I'm thinking myself, possibly a bad ground somewhere. Or maybe the cables. Just a couple ideas, could be all kinds of things. I know I had a dead cell in mine. Good luck.
