So here's the problem, hopefully someone can offer up some suggestions/solutions.
I seriously cannot afford to spend hundreds of dollars for the dealership to check my wires (which they have said can & will take HOURS to do). It will cost $150+ right off the bat to confirm that my NEW alternator & NEW battery are working properly....grrrr dealerships. LOL

Anyway, as noted above, new parts have been ruled out as the problem thus far.
My vehicle is not starting, we tried to boost her tonight, she wouldn't start. The other day I went out to my vehicle & the theft light was flashing & there was a ticking/clicking sound from the dash (not the engine).
I did notice in January that my command start, keyless entry remote was not working, so I changed the batteries hoping that would solve that issue...( it did not) this is about the same time my battery started going dead when I did not drive her for a couple days or more.

So I have pretty much connected my vehicle not starting with my anti theft not working, but have no clue how to fix this in an affordable fashion.

& PLEASE if anyone knows how to bypass the PATS altogether on the ford explorer, I would very much like to do so!

Oh yes...did I mention I drive an 02 Ford Explorer 4x4 (Not sport lol)

:salute:

No way to bypass PATS.
Do you have another key? Try starting with the different key.
If you have used both keys already then you have no choice but to hit a dealership.

Search PATS in the forum and you will get lots of info about PATS and how to reset your key by yourself.

thank you for your reply.
:( that is too bad about the PATS... It is such an awesome feature in some respects, but at this moment in time I am really hating it! lol

Take off the aftermarket stuff you have (command start and not sure if you have an alarm system as well), maybe that's where the problem is...

just last week my '94 jaguar xjs would not crank up either due to security... even disconnected the security computer and made no difference... finally, someone bridged/bypassed the system by sending power directly to the starter via its relay...

I don't know if I make sense or not, but I hope it does to you...

good luck

The Explorers are set up differently, If the Original Poster is having a PATS issue, the truck is interrupting the signal to the injectors and not the starter.
I would tend to agree with jad2411 and remove any other security/remote starting systems, but check out the links I posted and follow the steps to rule out the PATS system first.
