1997 Ford Explorer XLT 4x
I bought a 1997 Ford Explorer XLT about 7 months ago. I love it! It has the 4.0 and runs like a champ. Recently the "check engine" light popped on. I took it to get checked and it showed the downstream o2 sensor went out. I replaced it. It still pops on. Someone said to unhook your battery to reset. Is that true? Also it has started to hesitate when it is first started up. Once it warms up...it's great. But it wants to quit when cold. Is this an exhaust problem?

Yea either disconnect battery to reset the computer or take it to a parts store like Advanced Auto/Autozone/etc that reads codes for free and ask them to clear the code.

I have taken it to O' Reilly's and had them clear it. It's good for a while and then it pops back on. That's why I'm thinkin'...is it a reset of the computer by unhooking the battery? or is it an exhaust issue? (Catalytic converter?) or something else...
