i found out the hard way today that after raising the body, the hole for the jack handle no longer lines up with the spare tire unwinder thing. its near impossible to get the spare down. so instead of having to manually crank the b$#@ down with a pair of vice grips, take your spare off and remount it or whatever if you need it, because itll be useless to you where it is at.
I hope this makes sense to you all. if not, sorry. I'm sooo sleepy...

Or just drill a 9/16" hole at the top edge of the bumper, behind the license plate that lines up with the spare tire lift.

anyone have a good suggestion for 98-99 explorers, where there is no license plate to cover the hole in the bumper?

Ya, but that would be hard to do if you pop a tire and forgot your cordless drill. What I'm saying is if you have a body lift or are about to get one and are keeping your spare, do something so you can get to it! That way youre not stranded.

I have a hitch on the rear and I didn't want it looking like it was hanging down so far. So I only raised the rear bumper 2" and drilled a hole on the black plastic trim piece between the bumper and the body to put the handle through. Works great.

Drill the hole when you do the body lift. Duh.

and then ya can use the stock tool thingy to lower your tire

Or get a bumper carier, or put it on the roof rack??

Or do what my smart ass did on my last run... tie it up inside the truck and rip off one of you oh **** handles.
