I, personally don't have an Explorer but am helping a good friend with one. I'm pretty good with vehicles so lay it on me. Done cams, headers, carbs, tuning, trannys etc just never messed around with "newer" vehicles or HVAC

2002 Explorer XLT V6

I haven't had a chance to look at it other than maybe 5 minutes. Hopefully be tackling the issue Sunday.

The issue is the heat.

So I read about the blend door issues with this gen. but I had a few questions somewhat regarding this.

When moving the selector from cold to hot, it starts clicking up front.

In his, the rear vents still blow warm but the front vents don't blow at all. They will blow when the selector is on cold (as far as I know - 99% sure)

So either I'm missing something or it has a few heater/airflow issues.

I haven't had to deal with these issues on my vehicles (either heater is fine or its a simple ordeal)

Appreciate any help you guys can offer!

The rear vents have their own blend door actuator in the rear of the vehicle, there's another one in the front. A clicking noise and no heat indicates that one or the other is bad (Whichever one isn't kicking out heat).

In this case, the front blend door is bad - follow the instructions in the sticky to replace it, it's fairly simple and painless.

Thanks for the quick reply. I just wasn't sure about ho the rear vents fit into this.

What rear vents? Over head ones or the consul ones? Explorers came with and with out the rear HVAC system.
