Hi! I'm new to all these car stuff and I've owned my 2005 explorer for a year now and its my first car :). I have the 4.6L V8 2005 RWD and I'd like to start doing some mods on it and the first thing I want to do is to install a muffler to give it a deeper sound, but I don't know where to start. There are a lot of stores around that can do that for me but I want the satisfaction of doing it myself. So far I've decided to go with magnaflow after reading some recommendations on this forum. Next step is I need help with which model or type to go for.

This is the sound I'm aiming for, or maybe a little bit deeper.

(I'd like to Apologize if I posted on the wrong section.)

Welcome to the forum and Explorers. You got the right one with the 4.6l.

All modification posts belong in the section of the 3rd gens:

For now, just use this thread and don't create another. A moderator may move it.

For exhaust, I prefer welded pipes. I don't weld so this sends me to a muffler shop. That's okay, a muffler shop can often do it cheaper as well as cleaner than ourselves. I've yet to swap out my crumbling muffler and don't know if I'm gonna go with a name or house branded muffler.

Often times, a house brand is a name brand unbranded.

I was interested in a Flowmaster 70 series. I want sound on acceleration without being annoying at idle or I'm parking garages.

That video wasn't done very well, but I'd have to say it's NOT an aggressive 40 series type muffler.
