Hey, I'm doing a presentation in one of my classes about the pros of opening currently roadless areas for motorized vehicles. I'm trying to get a lot of views from the off-roading community. Anything would help ie. supporting mountain communities, wildfire restoration, but I need some sources to go by with facts and such that makes us look good. If anyone has come across an interesting article, or webpage, or anything, please let me know. Thanks!

Check the tread lightly site...

This site has a lot of articles on land management, BLM politics, and forest thinning programs.
http://www.citizenreviewonline.org/

And for people who argue that thinning forests is bad, check this out...

...It's the results of a study in Colorado in which an area was thinned and that area survived a devistating forest fire. Tree-huggers insist that logging increases the risk of forest fire. Hmm. I don't see it.

Best reason I can think of is becuase someone wants to be a "TRAILBLAZER" :D :D :p

Naw seriously I would definitely go to the BLM website. Road access into areas is very important in fighting wildfires. Trust me I went to fight the fire in Yellowstone when I was in the Army and we had to hump our campsites due to lack of roads.

www.off-road.com has a section called land use issues that always has informative articles. Most of it tends to focus in Calif. but i'm sure it can be applied to you're report.
