i want to do the brown wire mod. the switch i have has 3 terminals, ground - load - power please tell me where to put each wire. if it was a hot wire it would be easy, but im not sure since the wire is a ground wire.

Power - Goes to the part of the brown wire that goes to the Auto, 4 hi, 4lo switch

Load- Goes to the part of the brown wire that goes to the transfer case

Ground- Goes to a good ground, I used the seat mounting bolt

If i am wrong, just switch the power and load wires, i did this a few weeks ago, so im 99% sure thats how it goes, good luck man.

Hey Geoff , see you got your switch in....pretty cool spinning a tire every now and then.

but if the brown wire only sees ground and hook up the 3rd wire to ground, how will it ever light up if its only getting ground signals?

Yeah Matt, its sweet, i never knew how often the Auto kicked in untill i disabled it. Im gonna email you the pics. I did my rockers too.

i wanna do this so bad spinning my tires would make me drool :burnout:

When you do this, make sure that you put male and female bullet connectors in the cut under the door sill that lead to your switch. If the switch ever goes out off road - you are SOL in 2WD. I'm really glad I did, because when the switch crapped out, I popped the sill off and reconnected the two ends of the brown wire (taking the switch entirely out of the circuit) and voila - 4WD Low again.....

My light worked fine and showed me when the shift motor was trying to engage 4WD, so I thought the switch worked. Check the line with a meter before and after adding the switch. The additional switch, LED, and length of wire reduced the voltage enough that the light powered appropriately, but the shift motor didn't.

I'll use a relay next time.

so how do i wire the 3 prong switch if the switched wires are both ground? i want it to flash when the transfer case engages.
