Hesitation around 50mph

My explorer has started hesitating a little, kind of a short jolt, around 50 MPH. It does it often. Sometimes the battery light comes on for a second at the same time. If I continue to accelerate, it's fine. If I keep it at 50, it keeps hesitating.

What could this be??

My Explorer is older... not sure what options you have on the shifter are. But try turning overdrive off (ie., drop it into "3" instead of "D") and see if it still happens.
