hey everyone, noob here, question about 97 explorer

hey all, wondering if you could help me out here. I have a buddy who has a 97 explorer that keeps popping the dash/tail light fuse when he turns them on. I am sort of the go to guy when people's (meaning my freinds) stuff breaks. I work on older omc outboards for a living, so needless to say im not too familiar with automotive electrical systems.

I am assuming its a ground problem..but i dont know where to begin to look for the short.... i havent been over to look at it yet, but if you guys could throw me some pointers on where to start, that would be great, i hope im not forgetting any needed info, but its a chance for me to be able to make a few extra bucks and help a freind out if i can fix it. I have a meter and eyes and im not a dumbass, so if you guys can push me off in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

You could check for corrosion in the tail light sockets. That's where I would start.

thanks rick im making a list of things to check, i hope i get lucky and its something simple like that that is causing the fuse to keep blowing, but i dont think im going to find it that easily. :thumbdwn:
