Jason, from Oroville Ca my wife and I have a '99 with all wheel drive, has over 200,000 miles on it and is still running lol, has needed tons of work since we bought it from her boss for $1000, not exactly sure which version of explorer it is?? just that its an all wheel drive with the switch in the dash, we have not taken off road yet since it had bald tires, needed new CV's, hopefully the tires i ordered come this week so i can have them on for this weekend, cant wait to see what it can do in stock and figure it week points and upgrade from there, also the driver window dont go down, the seat is broken and have to prop it up, lol
we plan on keeping this more for trail riding, exploring some of the abandoned gold mines, ghost towns, and tons of fishing holes.:chug:

Jason, welcome. Is your Explorer a 2dr or a 4 dr?. A 2 dr is the Sport, the 4dr is either an XLT or an Eddie Bauer. On the drivers seat usually the upper bolt that holds the recliner mechanism to the side of the seat breaks. I had the same problem with the drivers side seat in my wife's 99 Sport. I removed the seat from the truck & removed the plastic cover & removed the recliner mechanism & removed the broken bolt. I got a replacement bolt from a JY. Once you get the bolt it is about a 1 - 1 1/2 hour job to fix.
