I'm the new owner of a 2002 XLT with a dead fuel pump lol! I'll try to make it short...my wife's friend is moving to Maryland and is selling everything, even her Explorer. She took it to CarMax to see what they would give her...the quote was only $2500. Proceeds to ask me if we wanted to buy it for that price and I say bring it by so I can drive it. She comes by, I get in, the truck doesn't start...damn. She ran it out of gas. I put in a couple gallons, still no start and don't hear the pump wine as the key is turned. Did some trouble shooting and tell her it's the pump. She freaks a little..
Now I have a broken Explorer in my driveway. She calls my wife and tells her we can have it for $1500! Sold, even though I didn't drive it. Well, wife friend is over having dinner last nite and tells us we can have it for $1000 because we have been so helpful...wow! It's super clean with 120,000 miles. I plan on parking my 4wd Suburban and driving the Ford daily. When I was doing my research I came across this forum, lots of info here.
