Hey everyone. I have been lurking on here for a while, but I figure I will finally do my intro post.
I bought my 91 Explorer Sport for 800 dollars off ebay about 1.5 years ago. It was the best 800 dollar toy I have ever gotten. There have been very minor issues so far, mostly the fact that the speedometer doesn't work when it is really cold out.
I also have an 2004 Saturn Ion Redline with a ton of modifications that I take to the drag strip and out street racing once in a while. It clocked off a 13.4 @ 106 last september on street tires. I am going to the track this weekend shooting for the 12's, but will be happy with a lower 13 second time.
A bunch of my friends and I all have SUV's (most of them have Jeeps, but w/e) and we have started taking them off roading on some trails near Germantown, MD. I am about to start modifing the explorer a little. My plans right now are a 2 inch suspension lift and 31's or 33's. If I need to, I will do a little BL on top of the suspension lift to squeeze the tires in there.
Since I only spent 800 on the truck, I don't want to dump too much in the lift kit, so I am probably going to go the poor man's route and add shackles in the rear and the F150 perches up front. The general consensus that I get is that that is fine for a 2 inch suspension lift, but anything more and you have to do something about the front geometry.
