Hey everyone. I have been lurking on here for a while, but I figure I will finally do my intro post.

I bought my 91 Explorer Sport for 800 dollars off ebay about 1.5 years ago. It was the best 800 dollar toy I have ever gotten. There have been very minor issues so far, mostly the fact that the speedometer doesn't work when it is really cold out.

I also have an 2004 Saturn Ion Redline with a ton of modifications that I take to the drag strip and out street racing once in a while. It clocked off a 13.4 @ 106 last september on street tires. I am going to the track this weekend shooting for the 12's, but will be happy with a lower 13 second time.

A bunch of my friends and I all have SUV's (most of them have Jeeps, but w/e) and we have started taking them off roading on some trails near Germantown, MD. I am about to start modifing the explorer a little. My plans right now are a 2 inch suspension lift and 31's or 33's. If I need to, I will do a little BL on top of the suspension lift to squeeze the tires in there.

Since I only spent 800 on the truck, I don't want to dump too much in the lift kit, so I am probably going to go the poor man's route and add shackles in the rear and the F150 perches up front. The general consensus that I get is that that is fine for a 2 inch suspension lift, but anything more and you have to do something about the front geometry.

you'll want to go bigger...believe me! and stay away from BLs....

The lifts get so expensive once you get to and clear 4"... That is why I was thinking I'd ghetto rig the 2" and do the smallest BL that I had to to stuff some tires under there.

If a 4" can be done for less then 400, I'm in...

Cheap route you say!

Spring it over in the rear, F150 perches in the front and a sawzall! You could fit 33's easy. And I would stay away from the BL. Waste of time and money.

Haha, it is funny you say that. I just bought a set of F150 perches and leaf shackles from a member here earlier today. What is the cheapest set of 31" or 33" tires that is worth putting on the truck?

Once I do this it will be strictly a bad weather/off roading/haul **** around on the w/e truck.
