Do the 3.0s have a fuel pressure regulator? If so that would be something to check out. Another possibility could be intake gasket. If that was leaking, it would induce a lean condition and rough running. Just a couple more things to check out.

thank you both for replying....not sure what codes..it just said o2 sensor running lean

welcome

Not sure if you ever found the solution to this problem, but have you changed the O2 sensor? It does affect fuel delivery by monitoring oxygen content. If that doesn't fix it I would look into the MAF sensor. Assuming you have no spark or timing issue the only other thing I would suspect is a sensor is faulty and so the computer is trying to compensate with the fuel flow.

ok thanks ill try getting a new o2 do you know if it is easy to put in

Broolyn is right, some do get stuck and they are very hard to get out. You could get lucky. My explorer has 4 O2 sensors. I replaced both on bank 1. Sensor 1 was a nightmare. I never did get it out. I didn't have a torch so I had to take it to a shop. It was $25 for them to change it so it wasn't worth the hassle to do it myself. Sensor 2 was very easy to replace.

You never know what you'll get. For me, even when things seem to be going well I always have something go wrong. Maybe your luck is better than mine ;)

thanks guys and yeah my truck keeps geting better with new parts and me cleaning some of the old parts but this problem is never ending i t just keeps comming back i think i fix it and it runs great for a day or 2 then whaamo it rus like ****
