Hey Rick - I know Truck Haven Hills beat out arizona for a four wheeling trip but how about doing something in arizona anyways? I want to swing by the phoenix area sometime in the next few months to see some relatives I haven't seen in years, and as long as I'm down there might as well get in some wheeling! Maybe we can get a little get together goin on?

Matt

I just saw that this went unanswered. Now I can't remeber if I replied by e-mail or not.

Oh well...

Anyway that sounds like a great idea Matt. I would definately be up for an Arizona run at almost any time. We'll just have to make sure my Explorer isn't getting the front end swap while you will be down here. Just let me know when you're going to be visiting the relatives.

Ill definitely go on that one. Im open most weekends.

Going out this weekend with my sideways drivin', mud eatin', plain crazy jeep drivin' buddy. Maybe the coke oven or box canyon run. Smokin hot already so I need to get them under my belt before 100 hits. Camp out Friday and hit the trail early. I have a pig tag, so my bow will be riding shotgun. Any takers??

AZ - wish I could join ou, but I can onl handle so many 20 hour drives in a short period of time Dead Link Removed. Possibly later though, I gotta relax from Truck haven still Dead Link Removed.

Hey Arizona Explorers! Lets go for a run. I just did the trail from Table Mesa Rd. to Seven Springs today. It's a good trip for stockers. Nothing that they can't handle and some of the best scenary in the state.

Got a modified rig? Lets try "Raw Deal".

What happened to the Coke Ovens run? Did you go out there? i've only been there once, but would like to go back.

Hey Rick,

I am ready for another run. Pick a weekend and lets go. Im still stock, but I am getting my courage up. I would have my kids with me, but I know they would enjoy it. I am assuming you are offering a day trip. I would need a couple weeks notice to plan more than a day.

Thanks
Steven

Rick - what is Raw Deal? How far is it from Phoenix?

Sounds good Steven, almost any weekend is good for us. Next weekend is open as far as I know, I would have to ask my wife when she gets back from work to be sure.

Matt, Raw Deal is about 20 minutes North of my house. It's in the foothills of the Bradshaw mountains. Most of the trail is pretty easy except for 3 or 4 seperate obstacles any of which could cause body or driveline damage if not negotiated properly. A couple of the obstacles have bypasses and a few don't. The same area holds Terminator, Predator, Alien, and other trails.

Rick,
Raw Deal sounds interesting. It almost sounds like I could make it stock if I was careful. Where is Table Mesa Rd anyway? Just let me know. I can usually make any weekend in AZ as long as I have a couple of days notice.

Table Mesa Rd. is on I-17 North of Phoenix. It is the exit past New River.

Raw Deal is not for a stock Explorer. Without ground clearance and lockers you are guaranteed damage.

Rick
i was curious if i could do any of these trails with my rig. I have a L/S in the back and the lift. Just curoius how much i can do. Arizona isnt that far, and farely nice drive now. Not later but while its still cool. If something where to get going i would see about coming out.
Thanks

Brian, there are a lot of trails in the area that I was speaking of that you would find fun and challenging. I think Raw Deal would be too difficult for a 2wd though. I'll have to get some photos the next time I'm there.

Rick - are you the only modified Explorer in the Arizona area now? Raw deal sounds like fun - maybe when I'm down in Phoenix I can cruise out there with you. I assume its just a day trip? Sounds awesome, I could use some more desert pinstriping Dead Link Removed.

I'm the only modified Explorer that goes wheelin'... At least as far as I know. I met a guy from the message board who had a newly lifted Explorer is was set up real nice. He came by my house saw all the pinstriping on my truck and I think that scared him off.

You're correct Raw Deal is a day trip, in fact you can run that and other trails in the same day.

Since I am in Phoenix, and have all weekends off, Im game anytime. Feb 18 - 19th is good. Also, Rick, If you have the itch to go sooner, let me know. Im here and its not too hard to hit a trail around the phoenix area. Also, soon (hopefully) you wont be the only modified explorer in AZ. I just have some more convincin to do!!!

Alright! Lets GO! Saturday, Feb 19 sounds good to me. We can either meet for breakfast or just meet out at the trail head. Let me know what you want to do.

We'll take the trail from Table Mesa to Seven Springs. It's a good day trip. Pack a lunch.

Sounds good. Sat Feb 19th it is. Im not sure about breakfast. Ill have both my kids with me and Im not sure on your opinion of OPC (Other Peoples Children)!! If you are not up to eating with kids, then Ill skip the breakfast part and make sure Im good to go when we get to the trail. About what time do you want to get started on the trail?

By the way, how does one go about becoming a moderator?

Well Rick at some point I still want to come down there and do some wheeling. My A/C still seems to work so mabey at some point during the summer I can sneak down there. That Raw Deal sounds like fun. Well when Matt gets ready to go down there I may join him to see what Arizona is all about. Now as far as getting other people to join up your Explorer runs down there what you have to do is prove to them how capable the vehicle is, then get them to get one for their own use! Well let us know how any runs you have down there go.
