Hey Rick - something in Arizona sometime?

Hey Rick,
I think Yolanda is starting to catch the bug. I mentioned to her that some people were kicking around the idea of a short run (day trip) around Phx and she just told me we would like to do a short run. How about a short run on the 19th or 20th? of February??? Nothing Fancy.. just hit a day trail around Phx... but please no body damage, I don't want to scare her off Dead Link Removed . We really want to do some more wheeling, especially since we had so much fun at Truckhaven. Let me know if this sounds possible..

How many kids? I met your son and he was very well behaved at Truckhaven. If you jsut want to meet at the trail head that's ok though. I would like to meet at Table Mesa rd. at 9:00am. When you get off I-17 turn right, then we will meet in the open area which will be to your left. We can air down there.

Just 2 kids. My other one is a 2 year old girl. She likes off roading more than I do (as if that was possible). This would be her first all day trip. For all intents and purposes, she is more well behaved than Michael. She just lacks the social graces such as table manners!!! Not sure about breakfast yet. Where did you have in mind?

Well, just a week to go! Mark and Steven are you still planning on coming out? We'll be doing our Arizona run at the same time as Paul and his group are doing the Kansas run. That should make for some good "vibes"...

Matt, when do you think you'll be down this way to visit your relatives? Once the weather warms up a bit we can do a BBQ & swim at our house after a trail run. We should have warm enough temps for swimming at the end of March beggining of April. Of course the invitiation is open to all.

Rick - I have no idea but I havent seen them in about 5-6 years so I figure I'm just about due Dead Link Removed. Sometime in March might work out, I'll take a look, make a few calls. BBQ/swim/four-wheeling sounds like a blast!

Im ready to go. I just bought a new air compressor, so I dont have to borrow one this time. I even have my own 18mm "deep well" socket and bungee cords for my sway bar. No more borrowing for me!!

Ill be heading down to the river tonorrow afternoon. Ill be picking up some river rock to landscape with. Actually its just a poor excuse to go 4 wheeling. I dont know if youve been there. Its not a difficult area, and its pretty small. Mainly teenagers go there to show off the trucks that daddy bought them. But I get to put it in 4 wheel, its good enough to take the edge off.

Anyay, Im on my way outside. I finaaly have a wiring diagram to interface the alarm with my power door locks. Of course, its not as easy as connecting a couple of wires. Its a mojor rewiring by placing a couple of relays in the middle between the actuators and the switch. Wish me luck!!

Well, I failed on the door locks. I just cant seem to get enough current to go to the actuators. So I just put everything back the way it was. It looks like Im going to have to go to Radio Schack or something and find me some obscenely large wire. the actuators would hum, but they would not move.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone know of any trails in the Flaggstaff area. I would like to visit the area in a couple of months. Im longing for the mountains. Maybe,If I go soon enough, I can see some SNOW.

I just talked with Yolanda and she is still up for the run on Saturday.. and I think I got her convinced to drive.

Steve,
Send me an email.. I think I have an idea on how to fix your door lock problem.. been a few years since I've done it.. but I've installed Door lock actuators (for an alarm) and actuators to open the door.

hey Steve - this may be a bit off-topic but how are you liking those superwhites you got at Truckhaven? Let me know if you think they made it better, worse, or about the same. Juan Gonzales (the other winner) had a late model so he is waiting for the 9007 superwhites to come out (still hearing march-april as a release date) so he can exchange them. Let me know!

Matt,
I love them. Its hard to explain the difference. They dont seem to light up any more area, but what is lit up is brighter. You really notice the difference when you use your high beams. When I flip over, it lights up the road like its day time. Kind of like switching from purex to tide. No, I know, its like the difference between Cable and satellite. Anyway, they are awesome. I would never have paid that kind of money for headlights. Now, its a different story, I wont go back.

Thanks
Steven

Just got back from our day trip. It was excellant to see Mark, Yo and Steven and his kids again.

Mark and Steven had a great time showing a couple Jeeps, a Chevy Blazer and a Ford F-150 how to climb a hill! They both got farther up the hill than anyone else! Way to go guys!

We only had two casualties all day. Steven blew a tire after we were back on an improved road and Mark had a bottle of tranny fluid erupt in the back of his truck. YUCK!

Besides that it was a great day of wheelin' Dead Link Removed

I made it back in one piece. Except for that whole falling vehicle thing with the jack, It was a very enjoyable day. My 2 year old seemed to enjoy it most. She just laughed and giggled all day.

I now call for the US govt to enact a rule to stop improving any and all roads. Pavement just seems to shred tires Dead Link Removed I lost my left rear not 50 feet of the trail Dead Link Removed Its a small hole though, definitely repairable. Its a good thing I didnt go farther on the pavement, as I may have damaged the tire more.

Rick, you forgot to mention that the Jeep, the Jerp Pickup, the Chevy, and the F150 barely made it to the hill, where as Mark got to the hill and about 3/4 of the way up. I have no idea how far I made it, (hard to tell when you are looking at the sky), but I definitly made it farther up than they did. Of course, I blew away every rule Tread Lightly has to do it. And they had the nerve to call our trucks Ford Exploders. I do have to give the Jeep credit though, he tried even though he was short a hub.

I am now beginning to learn where ground clearance is a must. Now the question is, build up a little at a time as money allows? or save up for a year or so and do it all at once?

Oh yeah, My check engine light went on again. Code 186, dirty MAF. Now, thats 2 trips, 2 dusty places, and 2 dirty MAF errors. Do I need a new MAF? or do you think a clogged air filter is the culprit? KKM will be hearing from me soon either way.

Lastly, a special thanks to Rick, for taking a whole day, and his trail eating machine, and spending it with a newbie in a stock vehicle. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Well, guys, the tire is toast. Time to get a new one. Unfortunately, I cannot afford a new set, so I will have to go with one Firestone ATX for now. Hopefully I can find a used one so I dont have to buy 2. These tires suck and I dont want to have to wear down a whole new one before I can upgrade.
