2002 Ford Explorer
Am new to this site, but a not new to forums.Am a moderater on a Jeep forum, and a member on others. My wife has 2002 Explorer and have been fighting with an tempermental water temp gauge/sensor.Origanally it threw P0118 code.So I changed the ECS,thermastat and the pig tail for the ECS.Now the temp gaugebounces from cold to mid way while the check guage light flashes, service engine soon and battery light flashes.I'm thinking when it comes to temp the gauge stops bounceing then all the lights stop flashing.I have put my code reader on it numeras times after this happens and yet there are no new codes.I'm at a lose, the only thing I can think of is to try a differant ECS.Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Mike

Hey buddy, welcome to the site.

I'm a first gen guy and have never heard of an ECS. I thought that there is a temp sensor sender and a temp sensor for the ECM. Well, there is for the Fords that I have owned anyway.

I guess all I can offer is a welcome and a bump. Er, the battery light makes me wonder about a poor ground etc.

Good luck

Thanks for the tip, didn't even think about checking the ground, but we did just change the battery. Going out to check that now!!
