well

will i hurt the transfer case only using the rear for now and not the front too because i got ppl tell yes and then no right now its 2 wheel not awd

im not 100% sure, thats why i wanna know what the reason for removing the front drive shaft is, and why you want it in 2WD

i would guess it wouldnt damage the tcase, since it would just spin the output shaft freely, but im not all the way sure.

anyone else have thoughts on this?

and

the drive shaft went bad making all kind of noises so i figured i could take it out and run on the rear for now, just wanted to make sure that it wouldnt damage anything , but so far it runs fine

why do you wanna go 2WD, with AWD it only engages when it needs to, so why do you not want that?

The awd is constantly engaged, it does not turn on or off. Your confusing it with the automatic 4wd on the v6 models.

You can run without the driveshaft, but risk damaging the transfer case it's best to replace the driveshaft as soon as you can. And remember to set the emergency brake every time you park it. It will roll away if you do not set it.

oh my bad, ya i confused wiht auto 4wd that engages when it slips.

knowing that, then i wouldnt drive it with only the rear drive shaft in
