Here is my new baby girl!

So I have just brought her home, I have moved over from Australia :australia to the USA :us: and will be staying here for 18months.

I have bought a 1996 Limited Ford Explorer V8 AWD. She is a beauty and feels very stable and reliable. Cant wait to go travelling with her - lots of comfort!

Anyways just wanted to say Hi and I will be around asking lots and lots of questions sooo please be prepared!!!

Take care

Cheers

Thanks! I hope so too... but I also have to bring back two big dogs that will cost around 10k.... I heard its alot of money to transfer it from left hand drive to right hand drive.. but we shall see!!!

Welcome to Maryland! Why did they repaint it from the original tan color it looks like? Hate to be a barer of bad news but something fishy is going on there. It's been repainted, also the rear bumper shouldn't be grey, it should match the rest of the paint. It's almost like they took a XLT and tried to make it a Limited Explorer. Don't want you to get ripped off some how.

Hey B,

Thanks for the advice, but it is a one owner and everything is checked out and legit, the owner was over(bored) the off white/cream colour that it used to be the original owner didnt just paint it before he sold it either there was still about 2 years in between. If this is an XLT and not a limited then alot of money has gone into it making it look like a limited, it has everything you could think of that an explorer has with all accessories, plus 'limited' is everywhere from the rims to the leather seats to the badges. I'm not disagreeing with you but we certainly did our research on this vehicle first. If you have any idea on what I could check for please let me know. But I am 99% sure its a limited. the bumper has been painted over but from the chips it looks like it was an offwhite color..

I have also decoded the VIN number now and now I'm 100% positive its a Limited.

:) you got me a bit worried there B!!! : )

Hey dude, get with the program. She's been hot for this truck for a while now. She told the story of the repaint in another thread. :D

I think it looks like a Limited. The grille is 100% Limited (that non-standard grille only available on the Limited in those years, the wheels etc.).

Those Limiteds were monotone back then, weren't they? (Bumper and grille match).

Some people's children. :p:

Nothing wrong with repainting a car anyway. I've thought about getting the 98 repainted...paints starting to fade out.

LOL now now calm down boys... all good :P and yes I love the new colour It gives it a classy character :P

-The purple color looks good. At least the last owner went all out on the supreme maaco paint service. Not just a cheap $300 paint service
-I agree with gmanpaint, you should take your X back to australia.
-I do agree it would be expensive to convert it over to RHD, but I'd do it. Project car for the next few years :D
There are other explorers of that generation in australia...so you could find some parts off of one of those.

kizzie - Let me know how that back to black stuff works for you
I'd post up a picture of what it did for my X, but I don't have any before pics :D

Sorry Kizzie, don't mind me, I'm late to the show. I didn't know all of that had been covered and that you did your homework. :notworthy:crazy: Don't worry about it being a limited, it is one then. I like the color of it a lot, it does look classy. Please continue. :salute:

I need to do something about that bumper though... can you get chrome ones? I mean otherwise I would have to go and match the paint colour which would be fun fun fun!~~!!! ;)

Yes you can. My XLT has chrome bumpers...I'll post a picture so you can get the idea of what the bumpers look like on an explorer. When I can find one....
