Hello. I'm Andrés, from Argentina. Sorry about my english. Im looking for an explorer suv, and i have a couple of cuestions about it. The most important is about the life of the motor. How many miles can live the 4.0 v6 motor of an 1991-1999 explorer. I'm thinking in a motor well used, no overruned or however you say that.

Andres, welcome. It depends on which 4.0 you are talking about. I know in 1999 Ford used a 4.0 OHV (overhead valve) & a 4.0 SOHC (single overhead cam) in the Explorer's. The OHV motor will say 4.0 EFI on top of the upper intake, & the SOHC motor will say 4.0 SOHC on the plastic shield that bolts on over the top of the motor.

Most models I see use OHV.

I have well over 300,000 miles on my 4.0 ohv, with no work done to it except intake manifold gaskets at around 250,000.
