Hello folks;
I just found this forum a few days ago. Great forum! I have looked through a bunch of the threads, but could not find anything about the problem I have with my explorer.
First, let me say that I just bought my explorer a few days ago after wanting one for a couple of years.
It is a 1997 limited; with just about every option except an electronic toilet paper dispenser.
Specs are as follows: v-8/automatic/awd/air suspension.
The problem I am having is a clunking or thunking noise directly behind the glove box/airbag area. It does not seem to coming from the engine comparment. It occures at a regular and constant pace. it is not very loud, but can definitely be heard unless I turn the radio up to cover the noise.
Today; after sitting all night, when I drove the truck to work, I did not hear the noise. Tonight, on the way home, I turned on the heater and had it on automatic control and the noise started up again and continued even after turning off the heater. It continued all the way home; about twenty miles.
Has anyone ever had this problem; and if so, how were you able to determine what the cause was and how did you fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help offered.
George
