Is this kit any good? I'm not going to do a projector retrofit and don't really want to hear how I'm stupid for not going with projectors. This kit has the hi/lo thing which is a little bit of a plus and its 4300k which is what I want, honest thoughts, does it look good? I picked this one out of the thousands of 9007 kits because the seller has 100% feedback. What do y'all think? Thanks.

Looks like the real thing. Don't know if they're any good personally. I got my from www.cqlight.ca but they aren't carying the Hi/Lo beam yet. Definetly wish I would've went with 4300K. 5000K is slightly too blue for me.

What do you look for to tell if the kit is quality, I know theres some debate about getting a kit with a heavy duty wiring harness. Do you think the one they give me will be sufficient? Thanks for the quick response, keep em coming.

Go with projectors, dont be stupid...

Im kidding....I would go with a McCulloch kit or a kit with a Hella/Phillips ballast.

^ The genesis kits are good from there. I hear the color is pretty rich on the bulbs

I built a harness for mine. Although I wouldn't see any problem using the ones supplied.

Someday I'll strike up enough nerve to put in projectors. I could definetly see where my output could benifit from them.

I found McCullochs 4300k 9007 on ebay for like $240 shipped or something, those look good, but first things first, I need diamond headlights, got any? lol

I'm very happy with 4300 (I've got Philips). They are VERY white. They make Silver Stars look truly average and stock halogens truly drab. They don't photograph well! Look sort of greenish, but rarely that way to naked eye (sometimes look a tad green when headlights are VERY dirty).

Night vision is as advertised. Every site out there recommends 4300 if you're in it for the best light possible. All the other colours are for show and obviously you hit a point where safety becomes an issue. I've read stories of people who can't see a thing in rainy conditions if their lights get too blue (i.e. over 5000). NO THANKS. A bonus too is that the 4300 are cheaper! The guy who sold me mine said it's simple supply and demand. They charge a good chunk more for the 5000 Philips capsules. I asked my seller why and he said it's purely cosmetic, and he has met and sold to lots of poseurs to prove it. And they're willing to pay a price premium. Whatever!

I have been tempted to get a set of McCulloch (sp?) capsules (5000K), just for kicks. They often price well (lot cheaper than Philips) on eBay and quality wise a LOT of people rank them a close # 2, behind Philips.

LOL. After all our past scraps! Your system is truly unique. I actually considered following your route BRIEFLY. All I had to do was read your accounts. I have no patience and no artistic ability. I would have butchered a set of headlights and was going to have none of it. :D

Your recommended setup is a good choice. McCulloch bulbs last long and are reliable. Obviously the ballasts are going to be great with those names. I wanted to go with a name brand kit and paid a premium but at least I know who's behind the kit. There are a LOT of wannabes in his market right now and from what I'm seeing.

Cheers.

Ok, a forum member offered me these . Honest opinions please, how do they look to y'all, good quality etc.. Thanks

I'm impressed with the seller's item description. Sounds like a real honest account and not some canned "cut and paste" like most of the listings on eBay are.

Sounds like a decent kit although looks pretty generic.

those pics are from a different ebya seller. I recognized them when i was researching hid in the summer.

So the auction says that these lights work with your stock headlight housings well. Mine have no fogging and are in very good shape, is it worth trying to use the stockers or do i def. need diamonds? Thanks

any loss in output/functionality between the stock audi hid bulbs in my a6 and the 7k, and 8k bulbs i've also had in it was extremely negligable.

i also run 7s in the explorer and 8s in the escape- very happily

if all you want is more light- get some 520s and run them when it is legal to.

You can always try them out. I think the ribbing may help out with the light output being that they are not designed for them. Not sure if thats actually true, always ran mine with the diamond lights.
