first off, this is my first post...

second, I just bought a set of CCFL Halo projectors with 8000k HIDs off ebay for my 96 explorer xlt.

link:

Got to install them to find out the HIDs wont come on... halos are working though?

there are 2 wires black / red (- +) that have quick connectors on them.

there are also 2 more wires that hook up to the ballast red / blue with black connectors.

The bulbs are i think H3 or witch ever the low beams are.

any ideas or videos and / or guides with pictures on hot to wire the hids?

P.S. - im having trouble posting so if you need them i can email them to you.

thanks,
Alex

Just put some similar lights on mine. The skinny black and skinny red wires on the bulb connect to the high beam bulb, there should be some wires hanging off of them with similar plugs. The fat red and fat black wires connect the HID bulb to the ballast. Then your factory headlight plug connects to the ballast as well.

thanks,

but the black (-) wire on the lamp housing looks to be grounded or something as it has a tab screwed in to the bulb housing with the wire connected to it. should i connect the hids as the regular bulb was or is there a better way?

thanks,
Alex

Hey man whats up! well don´t wire your HID´s to those wires cause you´re gonna end up burning them.
What I did to my friend´s mustang was to install relays on low beams and high beams that way those wires weren´t used.

this is the correct way to install an HID kit with aftermarket headlights!

what is the box with the numbers: 85 30 86 87 and 87a? is that the relay?

thanks for the picture so the wires for the regular bulb wont be used right?

thanks

yes, that box is the relay as you can see:
30- 12v (+) with a 20 amp fuse
85- "signal" you have to splice a cable from your low beam to your relay
86-Ground (-)
87- Output- Now this goes to your balast
87a Output- to the other ballast

Make sure you get a good relay- Bosch, Motorcraft etc. that way you dont have to replace it very often.

oh i forgot, you can do the same thing for the high beams.
And answering yor last question... I recommend you not to use the stock cables that came with the aftermarket housing. So after you do this the bulb goes right in. Good luck!
