Hey guys, I am out in Idaho for the summer, at about 6000ft elevation. My Explorer is sucking wind out here, dogging it compared to back home at about 1000ft or sea level. This is to be expected, but do any of you know any fixes to help my little truck back to teh v* power she deserves to be pumping out? Thanks!

Try disconnecting the neg terminla on the battery for 15 minutes to reset the computer. That way it can re-learn fuel curves for the air density. Not 100% sure if that will do it, but it may do the trick.

Yeah, I was going to do that, but I've also heard that trucks up here are sold with converters for the air density, not sure what the deal is witha ll of this, so I was looking to see if anyone else lives in a high altitude place and might know some fixes.

Alright, I reset my computers and it may have helped a bit, but I am still missing a good 10% or so of my power compared to lower altitudes. Does anyone have any ideas of how I can get some power back or have experience with this?

Oh man do I have experience with this! I live and work at 10,000 feet and occasionally have a commute at about 11,000-12,000 feet. At least you have the 5.0(according to your signature). Imagine what it would feel like with the 4.0 ohv! I think if you would put an open air filter from KKM on there it would help a bunch or at least get an K&N drop in type to free up some power. Of course an exhaust always helps too to free it up. Your in the altitude....not too much you can do really.

*edit* disregard what I said about filter and exhaust, I see now you already have that.

not much you can do besides live with it.

Forced induction helped mine out a bunch though ;)
