High Flow Cats

OK. I've searched without a good outcome: is there a pre-assembled kit to easily delete my four catalytic converters and put on the high flow's, or is it a custom fab issue? Thanks

Hi flow cats won't work on OBDII vehicles as the two rear 02 sensors will turm on the MIL light because of the free flowing exhaust. There are 02 MIL light kits for Mustangs but none for the Explorer as I have already looked into this.

Wow; my understanding is that the mil light eliminator basically gives a constant voltage which represents the normal range for a rear 02 sensor. Seems like a Mustang product would be universal. Why would an X require a voltage far different than the Mustang? Are you sure that it has not been done before?

how well the exhaust flows will not turn on the check engine light also the kit for the mustangs will work on an explorer because they are for an ford obd2 system and both the mustang and explorer both use the same post cat 02 sensors

The connectors on the sensors is not the problem its the way the PCM reads the information differently from the front and rear sensors. Here is some small information about open cats and MIL light eliminaters. I don't know if they will work on the Explorer though; http://www.mileliminators.com/. One of my employees has a 99 Mustang GT and he put open cats on it and he had nothing but nightmares with it constantly operating in open loop and setting the MIL light every time he drove it.

What I plan on doing is running 2.5'' pipe from my headers down following the stock pipes. Remove the first 2 cats and put 2 high flow magnaflows where the last 2 arenow. Then weld in 2 O2 sensor bungs behind those and extend the wires and put them in there. There is no room for a high flow where the first 2 cats are

Many factors affect "open loop" issues; in fact the rear O2 sensors simply give information on the catalytic converter function/ability to eliminate unburned fuel. It does not provide information to the PCM for engine functions. So likely, your friend has other problems not attributable to the MIL eliminators. This is a very simple device.

Agree. Just not enough room here.

If you are going to use high flow OBDII approved Magnaflows then I think you will be fine. I have seen some none approved OBDII cats installed with the owner having nothing but problems afterwords. This is what happened to my employee and he was not happy when he lost 10 mpg after the modification, not to mention the horsepower loss. The MIL eliminators fixed that though.

I have a 94x and am in need of a new cat. Could I get a highflow for my model? If so does anyone have any reccomendations?

If you don't have an 02 sensor at the rear of the cat yes.
