high idke help!!!

ok so i have a high idle problem... it sits at about 2k in N and 1.5k in D... also the trans will hold 4th but when i hit 20 it bumps to 1st (is that bad for the trans i hear it clunk when that happens) when i move the hose in the pic, i notice that the idle fluctuates, thus leading me to believe its the T or the gasket on that hose... what hose is it and how do i replace it? sorry... i need the truck for thurs and altho i can drive jt this way id prefer not to 😅

Pull the cover off and start checking all those hoses. Check them for collapsing, cracks, anything disconnected. While you’re at it, clean your IAC valve. Any codes?

Until you’ve fixed this, don’t drive it. Dropping the trans into gear at 2,000rpm is a great way to earn a rebuild.

As for the downshift into 1st, mine does that intermittently. I think it does it more when it’s hot. I’ve got 180k on the last rebuild and going strong, so I doubt it’s damaging anything.

will do!!!!! thank you so much! (also how cna i get the true mileage stoeed in the rig, as my odo doesnt work anymore and i want to document what mileage i have periodically 😅)

edit: what is the purposenof the hose in the pics on the first post? where does it go?

thank you so much! i took that off allong with the intake plenum gaskets... readsembled and its still there! 😡 could it be o2 sensors? cause it idles still around 1500-2000 when hot and when you rev it it holds that rpm(revved to 3k andnit held without my input...(also it seems like its hard to shut off when its odling high so i was forced to drop it into drive (never again, althoufh it didnt do anything it was painful to have to do😖)))

yep... replacing upper and lower intske gaskets and iac tube rn... will update with results... *crosses fingers*
 






update: idle is all fine now, only thing is when i come to a stop it holds the idle at 1.5 k for a second then drops to the normal 600ish rpm... itd nothing major because it only does that for a second or two, but any ideas?
 






Clean or replace the idle air control valve its sticking imo
 






i cleaned it according to the instruction by glacier, no better ☹️ any other ideas? its not a big issue just at anloss rn
