Hello everyone, Im new here. Just bought a 98 Explorer AWD XLT 5.0. I ususally post on a Mustang forum but before I do anything drastic on a 5.0 8 years newwer than mine I figured I would get some advice from the experts. I bought this Explorer for $500, it needs a mirror and front driver fender (black w/ no sport flares) so if any one has one speak up! Anyways back to topic. I got it strarted w a new fuel pump, but it idles @ 2000 rpm in nuetral. On my mustang I would just turn the tps, but its been sitting for a while (1 1/2 years) Should I look for a vaccuum leak? I mean those can be tough to find. Can I check the volts on the tps first, would it still read .98+- w/ its idle @ 2000 if it was a vacuum leak? Thanks in advance!

Vacuum leak sounds like a good place to start. If the problem is intermittent, it could be the IAC valve. There are a ton of posts on that on this forum.

Just starts and runs @ 2000 idle. Any other ideas or a way to fix by adjusting something?
