just went to the ford place and they told me that i should not put sea foam in the car at all and with as many miles as i have is is not safe?. i am going to try it any way but before i do i just want to know how may miles you had on your engine when you used sea foam?

they also told me not to rebuild but get a new engine?? if my engine is fine what would be so bad about rebuilding.

Excuse me if this is a stupid question...but what the heck is sea foam??

a strong engine cleaner mainly for carbon build up

how many miles is on it. i would think that they made for that reason. do you mean a top end rebuild or the whole engine.

Thanks, metstalker and dogfriend. I might try it, if i can find it.

I use it twice a year on my ex with no problems 120000 +:D

Your engine will be fine.

It's interesting that Ford told you that because there is a TSB out on all explorers with the OHV that describes a cleaning procedure that uses "Motorcraft Carburetor Tune-up Cleaner PM-3" which is probably the same thing as seafoam. No where in that TSB did they specify not to use it on high mileage engines.

redrig-- 206000 miles on the engine, whole engine

206,000

I hope i get that many miles on mine. and by the way what exactly is seafoam????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

thanks for the information, by the way what is a TSB (Technical Service Bulleton) just guessing? oh i forgot to mention he said that adding seafoam would hurt the engine and he pretty much said that be thankful that the engine only pings? ha! i will bring it back when i reach the 300000 mark and see what he has to say then! i am determined to make this explorer better then new.

here you go

Here is a pic:D
