2000 Ford Ranger
Hi - I'm new to Ford Rangers. I bought a 2000 Ranger 2WD long bed. It has 237,000 miles on it. Is the car middle age, close to the end or just getting started. Transmission was DIY rebuilt (says the prior owner) about 4K miles ago
Thanks

Depends on maintenance. Could be the beginning, could be the end. All the engine choices for a 2000 ranger are good. Transmissions suck. 3.0 auto is the worst. Axles are strong, even the little 7.5 isn't bad.

What engine you have will make a difference. Like Colin said, the 3.0 is the least desirable, but hopefully you have the 4.0 or the 2.3.

My 93 with 4.0 has well over 300,000 on it, and going strong.

Moved your thread to the Ranger section.

Oh. Well, they're not horrible engines, they just seem to be the one that people here complain about the most. And most of the complaints are about lack of power for what people think it should have.
Don't think that they fall apart or explode or anything. That's not what we mean.
How does yours run?
