210,000 on a '97. Original everything except the transfer case.

I have an '01 sport woth 133k and its fine... little wear and tear and noises but its almost 10 years old... planning on keeping it way past 300k!! ;)

241.3XX on my 99 XLT. Trans is slipping other then that it's running fine.

high as a kite..

230,000 miles give or take a couple 100. Replace water pump, new radiator, oil changes, a couple thermostats, several tire changes, and nothing major...yet. Tows my seadoo boat every summer, and tows my trailer with 3 dirt bikes often. This thing is a champ...and i hear its only 260,000 miles to the moon! wonder if i can someday trade it in for a trip to the moon. With miles like that...its high mileage! Wouldnt get rid of this truck for a new one!

2000 with 124K miles confirmed with Carfax for $3200
Never crashed, 2 owners only one scratch on drivers door XLT leather,
dual AC, premium sound impecable everything on it works except
display on radio and DLR's they stay on if i click the remote twice to lock it.

Issues which i consider maintenance for a vehicle with this millage.

All done last weekend in one day:
Replaced all 4 balljoints which had Ford part numbers on them "maybe originals".
Replaced all 5 shocks all Ford part numbers "maybe originals".
4 new tires.
Serpentine belt and new battery

ToDo:
locate or repair center console lid, material covering it is cracked.
Timing chain started to rattle.

with that center console...its easy as pie. my fabric had cracks as well....buying new fabric was easy and i chose a different color (black). Added additional thicker foam for comfort....and when you go to staple the new fabric into the plastic underbelly....be sure to be "gentle" when stapling. Using an electric or pneumatic stapler is how to do it...just be sure to get a good staple in and try to avoid weaker areas of the plastic so you dont screw up the underbelly of that center console lid. Its delicate! But definately an .easy fix.

Thanks for the suggection on the staples, i bought the fabric today I thought of black to make it match with steering wheen and other sections of the center console but the black that was available had texture and shinny so i picked a grey which was very close to what is on there now, as for padding since I bought 1/2 yard the minimum i was going to double under it for padding.

1998 Sport

4WD SOHC just rolled 220,000. Couple of belts, thermostats, batteries, tires, regular fluid changes. 1 Radio. Did ball joints at around 160,000. Muffler and tailpipe at 210,000. Some A/C work. Original tranny. No leaks. No noticeable oil usage between oil changes. Just keeps on truckin'..........

I hsd 296,645 kms (184,326 miles)

Curious as to the mileage of the sohc's v6 Explorers here. I have 185,350 miles on a stock all original 1997 XLT and still running like a champ. Any other high milers out there?

I had just short of 300K kms until some kid ran an early green and broadsided my left turn last week. :( Luckily I was able to replace it about $1500 less than similar trucks in town and found one in better shape with only 129,000kms on it (80,156 miles). Runs like a champ, second owner, history shows it being friven only 2,000 kms for each of teh last 5 years, pavement princess.

Only issue I have is the Air Ride Suspension, floats around like a boat on the highway, but I'll drop it out for standard gas shocks pretty quickly.:exp:

I have about 135,000 on my '98 Expy Sport w/ 4.0 SOHC. I had it about a year as a winter car and she runs so well I decided to keep it. Just did a tune-up yesterday and it runs fantastic !

215,000 on my 2004 the only problems I have had is, had to replace the transmission in 2008, replace the driver side front wheel hub assembly in 2009 and now I need to replace the thermostat housing. But all i can say is that it is still running like a champ.

158.000 on my 98 o/d flashing....and go

I'm up to 167k now. Had some things to repair here and there but overall it's been very good to me. Just installed some off road lights up front and going to install the auxiliary reverse lights as soon as the snow/cold allow. She's getting painted in the spring when the SHO comes out of hibernation. I'm thinking camo... lol

103,328.....just changed the oil...thing still runs like a champ... gotta love fords

192k on my '00 XLT, 2WD. Purchased brand new in Feb '00, all 192k miles are mine. :-) It's been serviced at every recommended interval since being purchased and I don't plan on getting rid of it until you pry the keys out of my cold dead hands.

I hit 170,000 miles this weekend, engine and tranny original, need to sort a minor tranny oil leak in the spring.

So do I keep her for another year, just sailed through the annual test.?

If I do I will have to rebuild the rear end (diff needs some work) air shocks need replacing, and the trans oil leak.

descisions descisions:(

I had 300k km on my 96 XLT . engine worked great the day I scrapped it but it was rusted and had a power steering leak.

Now have 220k km on 2000 Sport, runs pretty good, has two little issues, a rattle on startup which sounds like the timing chain and a little roaring and whirling somewhere which sounds like a ball joint or bearing or at worst a clutch pack.

I regret giving up the 96. It had less issues and I was down to spending barely $100 a year on maintenance. I try to repair and refurbish everything myself and if that fails I get parts from a pull your own wrecker for pennies.

97 xlt

202 lil rattle t chain ? reverse a lil sleppy
