Problem is when I start it up it will idle at above 2000rpms for about 5 seconds before it comes back down to normal.... Its very annoying and if I go to put it in a gear it will chrip/spin the tires so I have to wait there...

Any ideas?

Thanksl

You should always wait for the idle to drop before putting it in gear anyways.

High idle is sometimes due to a vacuum leak.

Hear anything abnormal under the hood? Have you done a visual inspection?

Have you searched this forum for high idle yet?

There are several things to try. Clean the MAS reset the computer. Check for vacuum leaks, etc.

i thought that was a normal thing. When i start my ex up, it is high for just a little bit, and so does my mr2.

It is normal. Just don't be in such a hurry.

I've seen the TPS do this.

High idle at start up is normal, but not over 2000 rpms! My 00 Sport only does the high idle thing when the engine is cold, and then it only goes to about 1400 rpm. When hot, it will idle at about 1100 rpm for about 2-3 seconds and then go to normal idle.
