- '04 mountaineer v8
OK to make a long story short, I have an 04 mercury mountaineer v8, a mechanic I used tried to rip me off by taking out almost 5 quarts of transmission fluid (which I drove like that for about 10 miles with it shifting erratically).
Took it to a transmission specialist, he added 5 quarts, shifts fine, EXCEPT, there seems to be a hissing sound every time it shifts gears, almost like letting air out of something. This happens right after it shifts up. Seems to be less noticeable after driving for a bit and everything is warmed up, but it still there.
Anyone have any clue what this could be and could it be a result of me driving without enough fluid in it?
