I notice a hissss every time i turn the heat on, sounds like it's coming from that oval black thing on the pass side, under glovebox. Any ideas how to get rid of it-what it is?

It was caused by a vacume line under the hood I must have knocked off when i did the plugs. All good now

thats great! I was thinking the blend door.

Vacuum Reservoir Tank - Hissing Noise

I found mine to be coming from the oval black thing on the pass side, under glovebox also. It's the vacuum reservoir.

When I take the hose off the tank and plug it with my finger, I can accelerate and no longer hear the noise. I put the vacuum reservoir back on and the noise is back.

It doesn't sound like a leak but like the vacuum reservoir tank is constantly presserizing (on acceleration).

Could the vacuum reservoir be bad? Is it just a tank or is there any smarts inside?

Any insight is appreciated, not a lot on Google.

Cheers. Kerry

you check under the hood to make sure all the lines were hooked up. That was my problem and I had similar symptoms.

I had a good look but didn't see anything.

I am wondering if it is the reservoir because if I take the vacuum line off it and plug it, the noise on acceleration goes away.

I am dropping by the dealership today for a recall and will see if they have a tank I can test it with.

FIXED - hissing noise from under glovebox on acceleration

I tested my vacuume reservoir with a hand vacuume pump and it was able to hold the pressure so, it is working fine. The problem is somewhere else.

I followed the black vacuume line through the firewall. In the engine compartment, there was a coupler. It did not sound or appear to be leaking. I took it apart and cleaned it... problem solved.

The noise that was coming from the vacuume reservoir under the glove box went away when I fixed the connection under the hood.

A good thing as the dealership charges $209. for the vacuume reservoir.

Hope this helps someone else.

Kerry
