HOLD THE PHONE!! TC's 1998 W/ARB AIR LOCKER???

What's going on there?

I was reading through TC's page on this site, and it stated that he had an ARB airlocker in the front Dana 35!

I was at ARB (in Perth, Australia) the other day, and the guy was saying that they have no airlocker for ANY independent front susp. vehicles.

Was this just a typo? Or is there something I'm missing here? The only traction device that I'm aware of for the IFS dana 35 is a true-trak...anyone care to fill me in?

I hope the guy was wrong...I really want a manual locker for my truck...if not only for another switch to press Dead Link Removed

It is true, ARB DOES have a locker fot the Dana 35. Myself, Paul B and a few others run them without problems, at least none I have ever heard of. Arb actually makes two versions for the Dana 35, one is the C clip eliminator, that is what I run, the other still uses the C clip. I have never heard of anybody using the C clip as it makes trail fixes to the axle shafts next to impossible.

This sounds almost too good to be true!! But are you sure there is an application for an IFS Dana 35? I know they have one for live axles, but what about those of us with 95+ trucks?

Does anyone know the story with TC's truck?

He has an ARB in the rear only. You are correct the ARB is not available for the '95+ IFS Explorers.

Oh well, gonna have to get onto those guys at ARB R&D to hurry the hell up!

I have a feeling since the release of the 100 series landcruiser (Top selling 4wd in Aust) with the IFS, they'll be hurrying up to keep the demand at bay.

TC Accually just found that same thing out the other day when he went to go get one installed. I guess the 35 up front for the newer ones is a much differn't design then the older ones. Since we live in the snow state the ARB is really the best option out here. He was telling me that he wanted something for the front and could not find anything.

Hey Ryan,

The guys at ARB said that the reason they don't have manual lockers for us just yet, is because of the IFS. Apparently it renders the axles off centre, and therefore there is some trouble designing the locking mechanism.

However, as I say, most of the new toyotas in Aust. are IFS, and since they are the highest selling vehicle here, there is heaps of pressure on ARB to develop an airlocker for IFS in general.

The only other alternative for me at the moment is to put a true-track in the front - but I suppose if you want max. traction, you look for a 100% locking diff.

Anyway, if anyone wants to hassle ARB about hurrying up their R&D department, then write to:

The guy was saying that every week there are a heap of calls/e-mails telling them to hurry up...well, it got us a suspension lift, so why wouldn't it get us an airlocker??
