Home Audio Question

Is there a product on the market that will allow me to play my mp3's through my home theater receiver wirlessly? If so what?

You will have to get a MP3 player and feed its signal into your receiver.

no you dont. we have it setup at school so we have one computer hooked up to the stereo system, and over the network we play mp3s from 3 computers thru the stereo.

you need an audio cable from radio shack and run it from the output plug on the sound card of your computer (or the headphone jack) into an empty input on your receiver (i think we used the phono or vcr one or something like that.) and thats it; set the receiver to phono or whatever and play your mp3s on your computer shouldnt cost anymore than $10 unless your computer is 4 miles from your stereo.

I think the Panasonic DVD players has MP3 capability. I'm not 100% sure though.

Quite a few of the newer DVD players have MP3 capability.

tbomb, I think he wants to do it wirelessly from his computer to his receiver, which can be done. They showed exactly how to do this on TechTV (I don't know how many of you have that channel). They hooked up these two antenna like things onto the computer and the receiver, and then the MP3s could be played on the stereo, but controlled by the computer without any wires connecting them. I believe the wireless receivers are about $100.

Your computer in that case is an MP3 player the same as a dedicated unit, a DVD player with MP3 capability or a portable MP3 player.

Using the computer to play the MP3s is a slick idea.

I just have my computer hooked into the laserdisc input on my reciever... Makes playin' games interesting. Like others have said, most new DVD players will play MP3s, hell, I bought my g/f's parents a DVD player for like 90 clams for Christmas, and even it plays MP3s.

For wireless, you might be able to find something that will convert it to an RF signal or something else, check www.partsexpress.com.

i get the impression that you have to point the remote at the computer if you want to use it, which somewhat defeats the purpose of being wireless, ya know...so you can be in another room. unless you make a long playlist and let it go, that wouldnt be too bad.
