Ok, I have been looking into upgrading my home audio system. All that I am looking for right now though is some tower speakers. Please, if you have any experiences with the following speaker manufacturers then post. Also if you have any speakers you would like me to look at that would be helpful. Here is what I ma currently looking at:
Dynaudio, models: Audience 82, Contour S5.4
Site

Paradigm Reference Series: studio 60, Studio 100
Site

Klipsch: RF-35
Site

I have also looked at JBL, Monitor Audio(awaiting reply), and NHT. I have also heard about Difinitive(sp?) but couldnt find much on the towers.
Opinions please, and any experience is greatly appreciated thanks.

i have never dealt whith any of those companies the last colums my family had were jbls and they were awesome

can i ask why u want colums? are u going for that kind of look? just why do u want colums

Columns sound a lot better. I am trying to get a high end speaker, and wall mounts wont do. (ie:bose)
Also I dont have boat loads of cash, so I will upgrade my center channel, and my surround speakers later.

just opinion-

Dynaudio- heard good things, never heard/seen a set so cant comment

Paradigm- simply awesome. one of my personal favorites. if i had the $$$, would have a set in my home right now

Klipsch- good craftsmanship, Honda-like longevity, not crazy about the timbre, live 30 miles from the factory. nice workhorse speakers that will live longer than you will.

Thank you james. I am leaning towards the Paradigm RS studio 60's right now. They seem pretty good for a measly 750$ a speaker

All three are great speakers. My father had some Klipsch speakers, and htey were really good.

Dynaudio also makes really nice speakers. Great sound.

I'd probably have to choose the Paradigm speakers, the Studio 100 if you can. Really, really great sounding speakers.

consider this. i have been mid-high end home main shopping for about 10 years now lol. if i had a relatively unlimited supply of playcash, i would have that exact set stacked next to my setup right now.

of course, now that i say that, there will be at least one post calling them crap. :D

edit- the 100's are what i am refering too.

The 100's are at the top of my price range. I called on them earlier, and they were around 1k a piece. I am afraid to even call on the Dynaudio... With some of their handling power on the higher models, I bet they run almost 4k a peice  Scary as hell.

Have you looked at the bose 901s. im not sure if their compatble with your system but they sound awesome when hooked up prooperly, my dad has had 2 sets series 4 and the new seies 7,the series four lasted about 25 years and took alot of abuse. im pretty sure that their like 1000 for the set and when you want to upgrade to the next series you can return them for $500 towards the new ones.

Bose arent as nice as the speakers I listed... They have really good marketing,(tricking consumer) so they charge more.

Edit: just checked the Bose site, and they dont even list the specs for the speakers you mentioned... Wonder why?

the Bose are really good, but they are alot like the new Dodge truck. you either love them or you dont. i have nothing against Bose at all (i have cheapo home theater BTW), but they would not be my first pick.

just my opinion.

I've installed Definitive Audio's speakers. It was the satellites, center, and 15" powered sub.
They sound great.
Installed in a room with 24' high, tounge and groove, wood ceilings and hardwood floors. I installed the satellites around 9' high. Unbelievable sound in my opinion.

terdrocket- Were they wall mounted? The thing is I dont have a house yet, and that is why I am leaning towards towers :D So that they will be mobile.

i know we're not talking about subs, but i will give the Definitive 15 a triple thumbs up. awesome, awesome sub. plays really flat for what it is too.

The 901s are on there under floorstanding speakers

Now be careful about judging a speaker by its power handling. There are plenty of speakers out there costing $10k and up that handle "very little" power. They are generally made for tube amps that put out as little as 5 watts per channel. You have to look at all the specs for the speakers. Of course you probably already know this, and if so I apologize. Hi end audio is a hobby (obsession) of mine.

I'm saving up (yeah right!) for a pair of Halcro dm58 monoblocks (2000 w @ 0.0003% distortion!) and some Burmester B99 speakers.

Yea, I found them, but didnt find the specs, like I said.
You know the impedence, the long term power handling(rms), the frequency responce, the crosover frequencies, the resonance freq. etc. etc. etc.

What about some of theese doc :D K2

Or check the Dynaudio site and look for the "Evidence Master" speaker.

What are these speakers going to be used for? Music only? Home Theather? Or both? What amp are you using? What receiver are you using? I have heard/own(ed) all the speakers you've mentioned. If you want, e-mail me side band.
