My dad made some shackles for my 94 explorer out of 3/8" thick x 2" wide flat stock. We made it in the shape of an offset "H" with the flat stock and then welded in 1" x 1" square tube like the "Warrior" shackles have. I made mine about 1/2" longer bolt hole offset and now the truck sits level.... springs had begun to sag a little I guess.

I really like em. I'm going to make another set for my father in-law's 94. If anyone is interrested when my dad makes the other set he could make more. They are a hell of allot beefier than anything else I could find on the net and allot cheeper. Dad has 32 yrs welding exp. so no worries there. The shackles are welded using a wire feed welder.

anyone interested send me an email and I'll send you some digital pics of the shackles. :)

Shackles

I figured how to send pics to the photo gallery you can view some of the photos of the homemade shackles.

And no they are not free!! About 30 bucks + whatever shipping would be.

They look pretty good, and beefy.

How much lift and how much do they stick out? Any distance side shots showing how far they stick below the bumper, kinda hard to tell with such close-ups.

I'll take some more photos tomorrow and post em. I don't think you can see much of the shackles at all but I'll let the photos speak. I had added about 1/2" to the factory bolt hole spacing because after 150,000 miles I believe the front sat a touch higher than the rear. But I had completely rebuilt the front suspension last summer so maybe it had added a little height???

Anyway check back tomorrow and I'll have some photos down bumper level to see how much the shackles show.

OH, I thougt it was 1/2" longer than the Warrior 2" lift shackles everyone is running.

Well that would be easy to do just add 2" to factory bolt spacing. That is an assumption anyway.:) I could find out for sure and make em with whatever spacing as long as it isn't anything wacky.

spacing

don't the shackle give a lit og 1/2 the additional spacing over stock

if you go 1" more on the bolt spacing you will only see 1/2" of lift from them

I thought i read this some where on the site. Warrior's are 3" longer than stock giving a 1 1/2" lift.

Yeah I talked to Warrior Products Operation Manager Ken Bostwick he said 2" nets 1" lift 4" nets 2" lift etc. He said Warrior offers a 3" increased length shackle netting 1.5" of overall lift.

I attached some pics. of the side view and from the rear.

well how big are they from bolt to bolt. great job i plan on doing this myself.
