homemade Shackle question

on the pic here it says it should be made out of 2.0" flat stock, all i have is 2.5" flat stock , you all think the 2.5" will work ?

Here is what i did, Seem to be very strong and flex very well ;)

so it looks as if the with does not matter much . i was just thinking it might hit something if it was 2.5" wide when the war's are 2.0"wide...
 






It'll be fine as it only adds 1/4" to each side... Look at how it sits, only the lower end of the shackle will hit something...
 






good good ..out to make them then ! lol....
 






this is as far as i got , do not have a 9/16 bit for the hole's, so ill need to wate till monday to get one....

Yeah, 14 bucks at lowes for that bit baby, just bought one last week. And with a bit that expensive, drill several different size pilot holes and use some cutting oil or just oil to keep the bit cool. Not saying you didn't know that, but just incase ;)

ill just put it on the work account , and i got a drill press and some cutting oil ....

i just got the bit though ! lol... but if your going to make me a set i'll just do that so i dont mess these up !
