I noticed my hood bouncing as I drive lately, and I was wondering if there was a way to adjust the hood latch? I tried adjusting the bumpers, but while it stopped the bouncing, it also pushed the passenger front corner of the hood up above the top of the fender. The drivers side doesn't have any wiggle room, but the passengers side moves up and down about a quarter inch.

On each side of the latch there should be bolts that you can loosen to lower the latch assembly, which will make the hood latch tighter.

Just bear careful because if you tighten it to much, the hood might not pop up and release. They you have to take the latch off some how.

My dad's an auto body man. I've seen him do it a million times. It can be a pain if you're not careful.

I mustve missed those bolts when I looked, ill have to check again. Would tightening them move the latch up or down?

And is there any way to set the latch up so that you could make it release if you overadjusted?

If you over adjust it you would need to get in there somehow and either undo the hood stryker or the latching mechanism. It's not hard to do, you just have to be careful. An auto body shop could do this for you too. They probably wouldn't charge you to much to adjust it.

I might just do that, save myself some trouble. Thanks for the info!

No problem at all. Didn't want to scare you but justa wanted to let you know what to look out for, and what can easily happen.;)

If my hood hasn't released since the day I bought my trac (used), is it possible that someone over-adjusted or is there another reason my hood doesn't release...?

stretched cable?

I figured it out. I feel dumb as hell though. It just needed to be lubed up -__-
Did you get yours fixed?
