Right now I have to manually open my hood with a screw driver. The hood latch is not popping my hood. The cable is still attached and I tried WD40 to see if the hood latch was sticking and thats not the problem I was trying to find a thread that would give me some advice on how to replace this. Does anyone have any tips on this?? Im going to do this Monday so I have a couple of days. Thanks.

It is easy, there is nothing to it mechanically, more or less a pain in the ass only because you have to work on your knees upside down to get under the dash. Disconnect it from under the dash first then pop your hood, you will see it goes through the firewall with a rubber plug thingy , just pull the cable and it will pop right out, then feed the cable through to the front of the hood and disconnect it from the latch, installing the new one is a reverse of removal.

The cable is most likey stretched or rusted

Hood Wire repair -need help

Is it possible to post pictures on how to do it? I am trying to do it myself because the dealer does not want to repair it, even though, they (the dealership) replaced it last year. They claim the warranty is expired by 25 days! To say the least I am very aggravated since I have probably opened the hood 10 times this past year!

I need help to see if I can safe the 200+ dollars the dealer charges for the job. I feel assaulted it!

Thanks for your help!
