hood latch problem

i have a 95 xlt. others with this model know that the hood latch is located in the grill. not a very good spot because it is impossible to put a billet grill in without cutting an uguly hole in the grill to access the latch. i was looking at some grilles on ebay and found a billet, but realized that it would be impossible to put in without modifying the hood latch and relocating it. does anyone have any suggestions on how to relocate of modify the latch so that i can access it from above the grill directly under the hood like the 98+'s have? thanks....

All you have to do is keep a screwdriver or some sort of a stick with you at all times so that you can stick it in between the bars and release the latch. That's what I do. There is also a thread somewhere about modifying it.

expo5.0 has a thread somewere around here about fixing it. to me its just easier to keep a cheapo screwdriver in the console.
