Hood release problem question

Ok I own a 99 Explorer Sport. The cable for the hood release broke. I went to Auto Zone and Advance Auto Parts but they both told me they dont sell nor could they get them. My question is, will cables from other models 2000+ work if I can find one of them at either of these stores?

Cables from a 2000-2001 sport should work just fine, and probably even newer models as well. There's not much to it other than a cable. Even if the cable WAS different, you could just swap in the newer release handle and hood latch.

You might try NAPA instead, or even a dealer. We also have forum vendors who can get you new parts at a discount, and there's always the for sale forum where you could get a used one for cheap.
