New to the site. I have a 00 XLT. The hood will not open. I pull the latch and its not a fluid pull, its kind of jerky but dosnt release the hood. I cant figure out how to get it up.

Also I have a driver side power seat. It is fine for me, but it dosnt move far enough up for my girlfriend to drive. I know it should go up at least another 6-8 inches. Is there anyway to adjust how far forward the seat will move?

Any help greatly appreciated

Welcome to the site, wpsatisfide . For you hood issue, mine just started to do the same thing. If you use a s thin screw driver, you can open it. Look through your grill at the latch for the hood and you'll see a small horizontal slit. Put the screw driver in the left side of that and move the arm towards the passenger side of the vehicle (so the end of the screwdriver in the hood latch moves towards the drivers side). That should release it, fiddle around in there and it will pop open.

As for your driver seat issue: is the motor working properly or dying? Is something stuck in the track? Try to gently push it as it moves up. Maybe someone else on here can help you with this issue.

The latch looks like this only turned to right 90 degrees and I dont see any horiz slit. Maybe I can find it when i get home and have a flashlite and a longer screwdriver.

Also the motor sounds fine so i dunno on that one

If you are still having trouble later, I can send a pic of mine. Good luck!

Is there something stuck in the seat track? Those seats move up all the way until they're almost touching the dash so there's definitely something wrong with your truck.

Well i finally got the hood up. I was looking for the slit and couldnt find it. I told my girlfriend to pull as hard as she could on the hood release and i banged on the hood a few times and wala it opened. I greased up where the hood rests above the grill and its fine now.

I started checking the track for the seat while moving it around and noticed the bar on the right hand side near the seat belt had a little give or bend in it. Called parts guy at dealership and he said that was a somewhat common problem and new part is $32.

thanks for help all

I can tell you what was wrong with my seat. Ford had mine in for a recall and told me the seat would not move far enough forward to replace the bolt. They wanted $180 to fix it. That made me angry. :fire: :fire:

Anyway, long story short, I removed the seat, put power to the seat track and everything worked fine. I eventually figured out that the seat belt track was what was hanging. There is a plastic cover over it and it had gotten squished. A file and a zip tie and all is well. :D At least I had a happy ending.

Take a look, yours might be the same.

I tried Jester's trick on my 1999 X and it worked great. Took a couple of minutes to figure out exactly what to do, but after I got it once it's easy to do again. I need to tighten my hood release cable.

I'm thinking I have the same problem as Brian_B here. I'll try filing down the little hump on the plastic and see what happens. Where does the zip tie come in?

Are you saying the seat belt is interfering with the seat movement or are you referring to something else?

Please advise.

Ken
