So after two months of trying to get ahold of people and people changing dates on me, I decided to go buy a jack and a set of stands, call up my buddy Tim who has the muscles to turn the bolts on my leaf springs, and do the damn thing in the driveway

My dad is sure I'm going to kill myself using a jack and hand tools instead of my other friend's hydraulic lift and air powered tools... but that guy's not dependable I've found...

I think it would be pretty embarrassing if I jacked up my Ex, started taking everything off, only to drop it on the ground... Even more embarrassing if I broke myself, then my dad would say "I told you you'd break something" and I'd never get to work on my truck in the driveway again :p

So... I know how to jack my truck up, but I've never used stands... Where would be the best place to put them for this project? It's a 2 inch lift, so I've got leaf springs and coils... shouldn't take too long I hope :D

What kind of lift is it? Body, AAL, shackles??

Skyjacker 2"

AAL and Coils... plus shocks... but I'm not too worried about those...

It sounds as if your doing a suspension lift? Is that correct. If you are, I would put one jackstand under each frame rail right in front of where the leaf spring shackles are mounted onto the frame rails. This is assuming that you will need to take the rear tires off.

For the front put the jackstands under the frame rails also so that they are in similar spots so the truck isn't uneven or ****eyed. If more height is needed you could get extra wood 4x4's that are symetrical to rest the jackstands on.

Good luck with your lift.

For the rear, put the jack stands right in front of where the front mounting points are for the leaf springs.

when u are jacking up a car/truck for a long period of time and going to be putting some force on it..should u use more then 4 jack stands?? or are 4 stable enough?

When I did my rear I just used one jack stand on each side, lifted it, put it back down on the wheels and then lifted the front with one jack stand on each side.
