Horn Beeps On Exit

I am guessing no Jason, but if I am wrong, the next time I am in Wisconsin, a Steak and Beer dinner is on me.

Kindly,
Soames

I am hoping the answer is no and then I will want their VIN number to do some vehicle programming/testing on my Sport,

If it's an issue when you leave the car when it's running (to grab something in the house, mailbox, etc) hold the FOB against the outside B pillar when you close the drivers door. That eliminates the two horn honk. :)

interesting... will have to try as we "discovered" this yesterday and the first time it's a real surpise!

I have a 2014 Escape Titanium and first heard about it last year on an Escape forum. Figured it might work on the 2016 Explorer....

This does work on my 2015 Fxplorer but it is extremely tricky on getting it right

Alternatively what I've been doing is just closing the drivers door lightly until it clicks (first locking position). It only beeps when the door is fully shut, so having it clicked close will eliminate the beeps.

That's what I've been doing as well. Tried the fob on the 'B' pillar and it eliminated the double honk the first time I tied it. That solves the issue with the driver getting out but likely not the passenger.

I have been just barely closing the door when I drop my son off at daycare.. Brain farted this morning.. Shut the door.. Woke up 3 sleeping babies inside sitters house. <sigh>

I just killed the double horn honk on my 16 Sport with programming. :)
be advised the 11-15 programming is not the same so I haven't explored that.

Please explorer (no pun intended) the 11-15 programming, that honking drives me nuts.

I get the need to do it when drivers door opens but the double honk when drivers still inside with fob and pass door opens is rediculous.

If anything it could be a lower volume honk, maybe 50% volume, or maybe a double parking lamp flash.

is it something in IDS settings?

It is not a direct function of IDS...I went in and figured out where the setting resided. What year did the explorer start utilizing this feature?

If I can get VINs from the last year it didn't and then the first year it did I may be able to figure some things out but would need access to one for testing.

I'd be interested in getting rid of it too if it's possible. Does the Police Interceptor do it? Or is it even available with keyless? Just a thought.

It is only on IA vehicles.

Jason, judging by the initial post, it seems it started with the 2013 model.

Can you describe how you killed this double horn nonsense? Something that I can point my local dealer in the direction to stop it on my vehicle.
Will it work on a 2014?
I need this nightmare to end :(

I haven't explored the 11-15 programming....it is totally different than the 16. It is not a simple function of IDS (dealer software) that your dealer can do. It is just like all my other items of adding oem options.

Jason,
Will you be listing this information on your website or in this thread? Sure would like to turn it off on my car also.
Thanks

So, what Your selling, is instructions on how to turn the double honk off, and We take those instructions to a dealer and have them do it through IDS ?
