How are the Pontiac Grand Ams????

Welp...she found a '00 Malibu with 35k miles on it and selling for around $8000. It has power everything, CD player, keyless entry, etc... Unfortunately, when she and her mom went to the dealer, the dealer couldn't find it. It's probably sold so I guess she's back shopping.

Focuses are nice, but they all start around $9000. I couldn't find any other dealers that carry any Focuses.

dont get a focus. i know a ford tech for the focus and they have lots of problems. if you want a cheap ford, get a ranger 3.0

i'd still recommend a saturn, honda, toyo corolla/chevy prism, cavalier/sunfire, and malibu as well as alero/grand am.

Thank you guys for all your inputs on this subject. Abby finally bought a '99 Honda Civic EX this afternoon. I'm very very proud of her!!! I seriously didn't want her to get any American cars at all as her first car because I'm too afraid that the car breaks down in the middle of nowhere. But anyways...I'll post of pics when I get a chance to take them tomorrow. Thanks again!!!!

Did she add the Type R stickers to it yet?

:D just kidding, those are great cars.

At least she would get better aftermarket support with her Civic than any of us here. But anyways, I think that is the best car to get at her price range and with Honda's reliability record she can't go wrong. Tell her, happy rev-ing! :)

Haha...thanks guys!! I've taken some pics of the car today. It's still sitting in the dealership lot with a "SOLD" piece of paper on the dashboard. It was $10,980 but they talked down to $9,500 out the door so I thought that was a pretty good deal. It's a Honda Certified so it has the 100,000 miles powertrain warrenty on it. So anyways...here're a couple of pics:

I tell ya guys...this is the cleanest and the best looking used car I've ever seen!!! I didn't see any apparent scratches nor DENTS anywhere. It did not appeared to be repainted at all. For 79,000 miles, it's great!!! What do you guys think??

Looks good, and the price seems fair, warranty is good, BUT
I seriously didn't want her to get any American cars at all as her first car because I'm too afraid that the car breaks down in the middle of nowhere.
Foreign cars break down too. I'm not bad mouthing you just because you got a HONDA, (god forbid, lol), I'm just tired of the stereotype given to American (God bless us) Cars. I guess those Mazda Navajos and B100's laast a lot longer than those Explorers and Rangers. It all boils down to maintenace, I don't think American's, take care of their american cars, "it's an American car, peice of crap, I don't want to spend anymore money on it, I'll just buy a Honda or Toyota".

I'm sorry for that statement. I have friends who drives different American cars such as a Chevy Malibu, Grand Am, Chrysler Sebring, etc... and all of them have some sort of defect. Mostly are brakes. Their cars needed new rotors every 20k miles. It's rediculous. But you're right. Maintenance is the main thing. If you don't take care of it, it will not take care of you.

No need to apologize, I'm just tired of hearing american products are junk.

So, how is the import, :p

Thanks!!

Stephen has a point. I also have a '90 Accord with 204k miles so far and all we did was simple maintenance.
