I have 2000 explorer with 4.0 ohv. Code P1405 (faulty differential pressure feedback sensor) Upon inspection all of the hoses on what i believe to be the egr system are intact. how serious of an issue is this? do i immediatly have to have it looked at or can i wait a few weeks and drive gently watch the guages and save up a few paychecks? She is running tip top as of now all guages where they should be... if i take it to mechanic is it an under hood problem? Or could it be caused by bad exhaust sytem components like catalytic converter or sensors? I dont want to replace those uneccesarily if the garage makes a $ grab. I passed emissions a month ago. Feedback appreciated!

Thanks for the help You gave me on that DPFE sensor. Today when i was driving the check engine light came back on and i pulled the codes P1401-- DPFE sensor circuit highand it lists the symptoms as (Wiring, EGR pressure sensor, ECM) and PO442 (leak in evaporative emission). Do you tjhink i should replace the egr valve and tube assembly next or maybe is it a wiring issue? Also could the P0442 code be caused by a leaking exhaust pipe? (The gas cap is on tight) i passed emissions a month ago... Baffling! anyway thanks for the help

Replace those two hoses too. Buy some that are labeled DPFE hoses. Dorman is one brand, and there are others. When I replaced my DPFE, I just hit my local parts store and bought some reinforced rubber hose. My ex-neighbor ex-Ford mechanic told me that was the wrong hose, and gave me a set of new OEM ones he had in his garage toolbox.

Yes, you need special hose if you want it to last.
