Hi, I am looking into getting a D44 to replace the TTB in my '92 X. Is it possible to find D44's at junk yards in older cars? I read that a lot of people got theirs from older Broncos. If this is possible, what type will I actually need and what car can I find it in. If anyone who has done this before can give me some tips on finding them, other parts I would need, and how much you paid for it I would appreciate it.

I am on a very strict budget, so if anyone knows if anyone is selling them at all, I would be interested.

Thanks!!

The ideal D44 to get for a simple swap is a 76 or 77 Ford Bronco front axle because they have disc brakes.

Pre-76 will all have drums and I believe pre-73 to all be D30 front axles (NOT DESIREABLE).

Get the trac bar and trac bar bracket as well as the radius arms and radius arm brackets and you should pretty much be able to bolt it on.

Do a search though as this has been covered.

As for a price. You are looking for a VERY desireable axle, so unless you stuble upon someone that doesn't know what they have, you aren't going to get one cheap. What is your budget for the axle anyhow?
